Welcome to the website of ‘Tenzin Project’ a Tibet Photo Exhibition. Our project was established in year 2008 and was then known as ‘Tenzin Project’. I wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge the efforts from Department of Information and international Relationship of Central Tibetan Administration at Dharamsala, Private Office of H.H the Dalai Lama at Dharamsala and Bureau of H.H the Dalai Lama, New Delhi for supporting our project for a long gap. Like any other civilization, the Tibetan people have also evolved with a unique culture, language and spiritual traditions. Our civilization dates back thousands of years has been destroyed by the Chinese during the occupation of Tibet. Our project aims to express the reality through pictures of Tibetan inside Tibet as well as Tibetan’s in Exile. And, last but not the least, work on bringing greater international concern towards our culture which is facing increased genocide and repression in our own land.

With best wishes
Tenzin Tashi

Tibet

The Tibetan name for their land, Bod ????, means "Tibet" or "Tibetan Plateau", although it originally meant the central region around Lhasa, now known in Tibetan.

Tibetan

Tibet emerged in the 7th century as a unified empire, but it soon divided into a variety of territories. The bulk of western and central Tibet (Ü-Tsang) was often at least nominally unified under a series of Tibetan governments in Lhasa, Shigatse, or nearby locations; these governments were at various times under Mongol and Chinese overlordship.
